PART-TRAINED STUDENT AND WANT TO COME TO LANGAR?

We often get students who have been training somewhere other than Langar but have not yet completed all the required jumps and now wish to continue their course here at Langar. If that's you - Welcome!

As a regular jumper, you'll already know that each and every skydiving centre will have slightly different rules and requirements to suit their particular site - so please bear with us while we get your paperwork sorted out. Oh, good news: there is no Club Membership to pay at BPS!

Make sure that you give us a call and talk to our Chief Instructor before you come to see us. We are usually able to cater for non-Langar trained students, but we will, of course, need to see proof of your training and performance to date. Your logbook must be fully and correctly completed, and you should also bring any other paperwork which has been issued to you. If you have any video footage of your jumping, that will be of help to our instructors in assessing you.

Please note that UK students are trained to use parachute systems which are compatible with standard experienced skydivers equipment, utilising separate Cutaway and Reserve handles. If you have been trained on incompatible equipment, e.g. SOS (Single Operation System) equipment we can accept you, but you will retrain on standard equipment.

STUDENTS TRAINED TO USE ROUND PARACHUTES

BPS entered the 21st Century a little early on 1st January 1997, and have not trained people to use round parachutes since then! You'll need to sit a full RAPS Square course.

RAPS (STATIC LINE SQUARE) STUDENTS

As long as you are current (have been jumping frequently and regularly, and have jumped within the previous three months) our instructors will assess your knowledge and practical performance on the ground, and undertake whatever additional training they decide is necessary.

If you are over three months out of date, you can expect to undergo a substantial retrain, and be required to pay for it. Those who are over six months out of date will be required to sit a full course (as would our own students). Call us to discuss your situation, and check what you can expect to pay. Retrain charges do not include a jump fee.

RAPS jumps at Langar cost £36 to any altitude. For your later jumps, you may well be using our fast turbine aircraft and jumping from 14,000 feet!

AFF (ACCELERATED FREEFALL) STUDENTS

If you have started AFF somewhere else but have not yet completed all the Levels, we will obviously need to charge you for your remaining training. All students who undertake a complete AFF course at Langar are provided with their own personal skydiving accessories (Jumpsuit, Protec Helmet, Wrist Mount Altimeter, clear Goggles) as part of their course fee, so you will be expected to purchase these items if you do not already own them. Note that a jumpsuit is made-to-measure and is a piece of technical equipment, not merely a fashion item! This equipment may be purchased/ordered on site from Air Supply Skydiving Ltd. Please contact them for prices.

Anyone who has not completed and passed AFF Level 3 will be required to complete a full course. Please refer to the AFF information elsewhere on this site for costs.

All jumpers must take out full membership of the British Parachute Association which costs about £110 per annum.

We undertake AFF training and retraining during weekdays (Monday to Friday). This allows us to give you the attention you need, as weekends can be incredibly busy.

If you are currently undertaking Consolidation jumps following your AFF levels, we will still want to check you out thoroughly before you jump, which will include a jump with an Instructor. Your consolidation jumps will cost £29 each (i.e. our normal experienced rate of £19 to max altitude plus rig hire at £10 per jump - which includes a packing fee), so with the Instructor's slot paid, the check out jump would be £48.

If you are part way through the AFF levels themselves, costs will be as follows:

Retrain fee (regardless at what Level) £150.00 (does not include jump fee).

Jump/Rejump fees:

  • Level 3                    £220.00
  • Levels 4 through 7   £150.00 each level.
  • Level 8                    £70.00
These prices include parachute hire but NOT hire of personal skydiving accessories - see above.
