It has been a hive of activity at Langar over the last few weeks, not only has the Control Tower been renovated and given a lick of paint, but we have been jumping as well! Despite questionable weather, a great aircraft line-up has kept us all busy!
Over 20 teams turned up for the Langar leg of the UKSL 4-way meets. Making good use of the awesome G-92, our smooth and efficient manifesting, an all-round team effort and great weather on Sunday allowed us to complete 4 rounds by the end of the weekend. Unfortunately, Go-Vertical was plagued by bad weather, but those who made it down midweek managed to jump to their heart's content, asking the manifest to slow down the calls so they had time for a cuppa! Thanks to Jan and the super-sleek Beech 99 for a great couple of days! Bullet Freefly put on another progression week in June and this time they got a Finest to play with. Some awesome exits from Leigh Birchenough, Steve Newman and of course Eder, the Spanish pilot made for some nice photographs!
In June we saw the return of D-FBPS from hot and sunny Spain. It was put straight to good use flying for the 28-way warm-up weekend. Fantastic flying from Simon and Angela made for some interesting air to air photos and allowed the team to progress really well. Good luck guys and gals!
A huge congratulations to all the Langar Jumpers who travelled to Lillo for the Honda Live Skydive Advert. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved, but especially for Sophie Cook who did her 399th jump live on the night! You could see Tony D and Swoop's little faces light up with excitement at the plethora of flashing lights and technical wotsits that were used to make the whole thing happen.
On a sad note, we say goodbye to staff members Mike Gorman, Chris McCann and Steve Newman who are all moving on to pastures new. More cheerily, after a patch of poor health it's nice to have Chris Harrison back on his feet.
We are planning more events in the Langar Bar, e.g. Fancy Dress parties, Music and Cocktail nights - watch this space! On the summer Solstice we moved the bar to an outside gazebo, lit a bonfire at Langar Henge and had a bit of a barbeque. Yet again, shame about the weather, but it was still an awesome evening, so we'll do the same for the second Friday at Langar Boogie 2 - don't miss it! It doesn't matter what time of year it is, the Langar Bar is a 'happening' place to hang out!
Don't forget we have both our shiny Grand Caravans available 7-days a week - see you soon!
